我的 eeepc 701 自從買回來後的用途一直都是出去聚會懶得帶筆電或是出去玩好幾天備份相片用的機器。（雖然最近他的工作顯然有被 X61 搶走之嫌XD）

不過最近看到 癮科技的報導 一整個讓我很想試試看我的 eeepc 還能做什麼XD 所以我去 hp 網站下載了，然後要等他下載很久的 ROM image (約900MB)。然後拿著弄好的 USB drive 插進 eeepc 開機。然後接下來真的就是完全全自動安裝了。結果發現開機只有一個游標在跑… orz 後來一查是硬碟太小了。好加在 hp 是把 recovery 動作寫成設定檔案跟 script，分別存在 install.cfg 跟 install.sh。因此經過一陣亂搞，這是改好的 install.sh 跟 install.cfg 可供您下載換掉。基本上就是拿掉 recovery partition 而且 swap 空間也只有 256MB。

可以貼近一點看清楚一點。因為 eeepc 701 解析度不夠，所以有些畫面看不到。不過不影響使用，唯一需要注意是第一次開機的設定畫面您需要使用 Alt + 拖曳 來移動視窗完成第一次的登入。 目前發現音效沒有辦法用、螢幕跟無線網路正常。歡迎大家一起研究！

This is a patched version of install.cfg and install.sh of hp MIE recovery USB key to make the MIE operating system fit in eeepc 701. You can download files here and here.

It should works right after recovery is complete. For the first login, you may need to use Alt + Click to move around the window. The MIE desktop is not fit in eeepc 701’s small 800×480 screen, but it does not affect your usage. The sound is known not working and should works if you install the driver likes you install Ubuntu 8.04 in your eeePC. Wireless is works out-of-box.
